Without a doubt, one of the best ways to experience America’s most famous National Parks is through camping. But as I get older, I do appreciate the amenities and comfort that come with more luxurious accommodations. Let me tell you about the glamping options at Zion National Park and other famous parks in the US.
Under Canvas around the US
Under Canvas is a luxury campground with locations in Zion, Moab, Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore, Glacier, and the Great Smoky Mountains. Some tents are large enough to accommodate up to six adults and you can choose to have your own private bathroom (with shower) or use a communal bath house. There are daily complimentary activities like group yoga and live music, as well as a nightly bonfire with s’mores. My personal favorite feature is the wood burning stove inside the tents.
For ~$400 a night, you will likely have a far more comfortable stay in a hotel, but Under Canvas’ commitment to sustainability will definitely have me coming back for more. It’s what they refer to as “Intentional Inconveniences” where the small inconvenience such as water auto-shutting off after a few seconds will save gallons of water. Their Zion and Moab locations also run on 100% solar energy.
Other Glamping Options
I recently discovered the Getaway House with locations all over the east coast, south, and a couple on the west coast. It’s the perfect accommodation for couples or a small group of friends looking to unplug for a weekend. I’m looking forward to spending a weekend in their upstate NY location very soon.
I’m always down for real, rustic camping. But it does take quite a bit of planning and preparation so I can understand why it may seem intimidating. With all of these glamping options that have popped up all over the country in recent years, there really isn’t much excuse not to experience the great outdoors.
